Our Purpose
The primary purpose of the Verde Valley CASA Support Council is to support the efforts of Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASAs) who serve children in foster care throughout the greater Verde Valley of northern Arizona. These CASAs are volunteers representing the court as advocates for the safety, permanency and well-being of individual children who are wards of the court.
The CASAs spend time one-on-one with these children, talk to the people involved in their lives, and make recommendations to the court regarding the best interests of the child. CASAs are the eyes and ears of the court. When a CASA becomes aware of the needs of a child, he or she will request funds from the CASA Support Council. The request is reviewed by our Board of Directors and funds are issued, if appropriate.
The Verde Valley CASA Support Council also provides the same service to the Department of Child Safety Case Managers when they have identified the needs of a child on their caseload who does not have an assigned CASA.
