We Have Made It Through 2020!

Waking recently to this ominous, awe-inspiring view, it seemed a fitting metaphor for the challenging year we have all faced.

Thankfully, we have emerged from 2020, hopefully stronger in spirit and more determined to face 2021! But for a child in foster care, every year is a challenging year as they face each day with uncertainty and not knowing what the future holds. That is why CASAs, Court Appointed Special Advocates for these children, work to restore normalcy, stability, and a reasonable quality of life for children.

The Verde Valley CASA Support Council raises and channel funds to further the work of CASAs. For example, the Support Council bought Thanksgiving dinners for more than 20 foster families. And they will provide gift cards so that nearly 50 children in foster care will be able to buy Christmas gifts for themselves – and for their foster parents.

Further, the CASA Oasis Garden continues to be an inspiration and learning resource for local school children. While Garden Club activities have been suspended during the COVID lockdown, children have still been able to enjoy the picnic table and newly constructed patio in the Oasis Garden as breakfasts and lunches must now be eaten outdoors.
